Everything created on this earth has energy, vibration, and frequency. With all the different energy coming at you every day, there needs to be balance. This is known as Yin and Yang, positive and negative energy. In living beings, energy flows through specific pathways in the body. The pathways are known as meridians. The meridians energy centers are called chakras.
Each chakra has an individual purpose and energetic expression of who we are. They control how you feel about yourself and how you interact with the outside world.
Chakra is Sankskrit, a language spoke in Souther Asia in the late Bronze Age. It means wheel, (circular object that revolves on an axis) or vortex (a whirling fluid or air).
Each chakra is related to a specific location in the body and plays a specific role in how your body is affected.
The first chakra is known as the Root chakra and is located at the base of the spine. It corresponds to the adrenal glands and relates to survival and self-preservation. When this chakra is "open" you feel grounded, confident, and secure. If the chakra is "blocked" it may be expressed as bladder issues, constipation and arthritis. The color of the root chakra is denoted by RED, and the element is EARTH.
The second chakra is known as the Sacral Chakra and is located in the lower abdomen below the naval and above the pubic bone. It corresponds to the sexual organs and relates to regulating emotions, creativity, and sexual energy. When this chakra is "open" you feel a sense of well-being, abundance, and pleasure. If the chakra is "blocked' it may be expressed as lower back pain, urinary tract infections, and impotency. The color of the sacral chakra is denoted by ORANGE, and the element is water.
The third chakra is known as the Solar Plexus and is located in the upper abdomen between the breastbone and the naval. It corresponds to the pancreas and spleen and relates to self-worth. The color of the solar plexus chakra is YELLOW, and the element is fire.
The fourth chakra is known as the Heart and is located over the heart. This chakra acts as a bridge connecting the lower chakras and the upper chakras. It corresponds to the thymus gland and is related to love and compassion. If this chakra is "open" you feel love and compassion toward yourself and others. If this chakra is "blocked" it may be expressed as asthma, weight issues, and heart problems. When this chakra is out of alignment it creates feelings of insecurity and loneliness. The color of the heart chakra is GREEN, and the element is air.
The fifth chakra is known as the Throat and is located over the voice box. It corresponds to the thyroid and parathyroid and is related to one's ability to communicate and express personal power. The color of the throat chakra is LIGHT TURQUIOUS, and the element is sound.
The sixth chakra is known as the Third Eye and is located between the eyebrows. It corresponds to the pituitary gland and relates to intuition, wisdom, and imagination. If this chakra is "open" you can see the big picture. If this chakra is "blocked" you may experience vision and concentration issues and headaches. The color of the third eye chakra is PURPLE, and the element is light.
The seventh chakra is known as the Crown and is located at the top of the head. It corresponds to the pineal gland and relates to one's ability to be spiritually connected to higher consciousness and the divine.
